Structure of Consciousness through the eyes of Sigmund Freud

struktura świadomości

Next Friday in our thematic zone #PsycheFrieday, it’s time to start.

Today’s hero of psychological considerations will be Sigmund Freud. Yes, probably this man is more or less associated with psychology.

Maybe even Freud’s memory triggers an accelerated pulse and redness in your face due to confusion.

But calmly we will not focus on the sexual drive in this post.

Awareness and unconsciousness.

To be able to talk about white, we must see black.

The times of Sigmund Freud is a period where people as a species have long since descended from trees. For it to tread hard on the ground.

There were ancient times, where the first philosophers tried to explain human life and conduct.

No less such an elementary structure of the psychic apparatus of man was created by the leader of the psychoanalytic movement Sigmund Freud.

Although from the time of Sigmund, ideas about the functioning of the human psyche have undergone great changes and changes in assumptions.

This basic structure of conscious and unconscious human thinking is still authentic and functional.

Unconsciousness and consciousness are two sisters who together form a coherent human psyche.

Unconsciousness – immeasurable depth of human non-thoughts.

It is difficult to talk about a part of our mental functioning in which our ideas are located, which logic and our conscious mind displaces. At the same time, they have an emotional meaning for us, so they find a place in our unconscious.

Unawareness, according to Freud, although he is not a precursor, these terms are characterized by several features.

Expressions in the unconscious according to Freud are not contradictory. These images are differentiated only by the intensity of the emotional charge they carry for themselves.
This means that the image of an elderly man running on the pitch can be more important to us than we are in a beautiful limousine in the company of attractive people.

The old man may be a representation of our beloved grandfather, while our unconscious part does not need values in a different sense than emotional.

Our unconscious does not know the concept of time or time line. Chronology is alien to this part of the mental function. Children’s facts, images, sounds, smells have the same meaning as the feelings registered in the present.

No reference to reality

There are no logical relationships in the unconscious. The concept of rationality does not function. Information stored in the unconscious, images are absurd. We sometimes have access to unconscious decks in dreams.
So you understand what I mean. Probably not once you dreamed of a purple cat riding a pink dog on the pistachio grass, which is chasing a navy blue crocodile. Prada?

Well, let us not delve into this absurd description of sleep, because soon it will come out that I am an individual with psychopathic tendencies. 🙂

I just wanted to depict you the inconsistency of unconscious images with reality.

The original process

We would not be human as if we were not trying to systematize, absurd and non-systematic processes of our psychic functions. Sigmund, also added his human, conscious image of the unimaginable. The primitive process is a feature of the unconscious in which some relations of dependence take place. Including two mechanisms of displacement and condensation. Where displacement lets you suppress the images hidden in the unconscious that are unacceptable to the mind. It is a kind of defense mechanism that allows unconsciousness to suppress unacceptable mental energy. In turn condensation strengthens those ideas that can and should not disappear in the depths of the unconscious. It is a process that balances and balances the effort resulting from relocation.

Awareness – I know that he is alive.

Let us leave this deep channel of the unconscious aboard unexplored in quantitative and qualitative consciousness.

Most sources state that it is a basic and fundamental mental state in which we are aware of internal processes taking place in our body. As well as we are aware of the processes and phenomena occurring in our external environment.

Speaking colloquially, consciousness is what distinguishes us from animals. We know that we are thinking and that billions of countless operations are taking place inside our body

chemical-physical and mental. We also realize that it is raining and that if we do not spread the umbrella or hide under the roof, it will fall on us.

That, I, and above me – or Sigmunt puzzle

Our personality is in our consciousness. Personality is nothing but the operating system of our ingenious body. Sigmund Freud, this psychoanalytic constructor of the structure of our personality, distinguished three elements of this construct.

  • (ID) – That’s our original mental construct.
This is our original component part. The shaft in which the entire personality component is located. This original construct is created according to Sigmund already in the womb. And it is a kind of incubator for the other two components of the personality. Id is a set of impulses for immediate gratification and satisfying needs. Id is a representation of a series of internal experiences performed at the physiological level. It does not interpret any objective sensations. In itself, it can not analyze and respond to psychological energy gains caused by various sensations. Well, the least mature part of our consciousness. The way Id works is based on the principle of pleasure. Which, by means of various reflex mechanisms, tries to immediately reduce the tensions resulting from these energies.
  • (Ego)
We already know how thanks to Id compulsively and automatically, like a child, we try to go through life. You probably know from experience that a child in a complex world is unable to exist on its own. The child needs an adult to provide security for more complex processes.

even such as getting food or safety. The child has a poorly developed Ego, so in the initial stage of personality development, we do not know what it means to Me.

Freud thought that satisfying the needs of man goes beyond the compulsive drive needs. So that the human individual could function in a wider sense, he needs the ego construct. That is the scope of psychic interpretation which is based on the principle of reality. Ego is a kind of designer, planning to meet the body’s needs based on an analysis of the surrounding reality. It is a kind of secondary process, which competences go beyond the discussed primary process implemented by Id.

  • (Super Ego)
My Ego feeds my Id with a sense of fulfillment which reduces negative tensions. Ego thinks I’m cool because I share my insights on the blog.

He says it’s great to share his knowledge and it’s okay to have such feelings.

And here in the conflict, Superego calls a defender of morality. It is a construct of our personality educated at the stage of socialization. It is a personality part that functions based on the pursuit of perfection, supported by morality.

This construct is the latest development in personality human development.

That is why my Nad-Ja is based on my being that it is immoral and not cool to brag about my abilities. It is nothing unusual to describe a psychoanalytic trend. Hundreds of publications on the subject have been written since Freud, etc.

You see, and you probably see this constant struggle between Ego and Super Ego, which determines who you are, what we do and what we can not do.

It’s time for a happy end

Since the time Sigmund Freud really looked at psychology and the human interior a lot has changed and for sure in the future a lot will change. I believe, however, that the psychoanalytic trend is able to visualize and systematize the cognitive process regarding our functioning.

Personally, I think that a different view from the point of social psychology or other trends in psychology is more practical to apply in the present time. However, I am tempted to say that psychological tools derived from the psychoanalysis trend are effective and practically effective in the process of learning about actions and reactions, especially of children and adolescents.

Since you are reading these words, congratulations on perseverance and promises that this is the last in the series #PsycheFieday entry of such a long structure. I wish you many fruitful thoughts and to read in a week.
